Capt. Frank K Bennett RD* DL RNR

In his civilian career, Frank worked for Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd, joining the company at their Pharmaceuticals division at Fulshaw Hall, Wilmslow.  He subsequently held a series of management appointments within the company, latterly in Greater Manchester and retired in 1990.

Prior to joining ICI, he had entered the Royal Navy for his National Service, during which time he was Commissioned.  On leaving RN, he joined the Royal Navy Reserve.  After subsequent appointments and sea commands, he attained the rank of Captain when in command of HMS EAGLET.  He was appointed as Aide-de-Camp to Her Majesty The Queen in 1985.

He was chairman of The Greater Manchester County Employer Liaison Team and also a Trustee and Director of The Bronington Trust, when HMS BRONINGTON was  berthed in Manchester.  His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales took much interest, as a former Commanding Officer.

Frank was Vice Chairman (Navy) of TAVRA North West, which brought him into regular contact with Military and Naval Reserve units in Greater Manchester.  He served on other committees, including King George’s Fund for Sailors and Broughton House.

He was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant in the County in 1992.  He and his wife Majorie moved to Southport in 2002 and Frank was placed on the retired list at that time.
