Lt. Col. Peter L. K . Darroch DL
Peter Darroch enlisted in the RAMC as a 15 year old Apprentice in 1952. He saw service in Kenya, Malaya, Hong Kong, 3 tours in Germany, Australia, USA and of course the UK. He retired from the Regular Army in April 1991 but was immediately re-employed as an Army Careers Officer Grade 1 until 1997.
From July 1997 until April 2002 Peter worked as a Regional Welfare Officer for the Ex-Services Mental Welfare Society (Combat Stress). Peter continues as Chairman of the Greater Manchester Committee of the Army Benevolent Fund and is a Trustee of Broughton House Home for Ex-Service Personnel in Salford; he also serves as a Council Member of St John Ambulance, Greater Manchester.
He was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Greater Manchester in 2001.
