Born in Manchester in 1953 and educated at St Francis Secondary school in Gorton, east Manchester, where he grew up from age 7. Married to Elaine with one daughter Katy and two step children Heather and George. Hobbies include piloting Helicopters at every opportunity.
Paul has had an extensive career at a senior level in the Food industry with ASDA and The Co-op. He previously held the post of CEO with a rapidly growing Food business and is a former Chairman of the Provision Trade Federation. Has held several senior sales, commercial and marketing roles within leading FMCG and Food manufacturers in UK and Europe. Paul maintains an excellent top level network with many of the major UK food and non food retailers and trade press.
Portfolio roles include being a Non-Executive Director of two North West companies, one food the other textiles, and a principal consultant to an International management consulting practice.
Paul's voluntary activity include being Chairman of The Gorton Monastery Trust in Manchester. A member of the advisory board of HRH The Prince of Wales's Business in the Community in the North-West and for 14 years a judge of Edinburgh based International Indian Chef of the Year Competition with proceeds supporting Bangladeshi orphans.
A fellow of the RSA and a member of The Royal Society of St George and was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant in 2004.
