Major W. Richard Lees-Jones TD DL
Richard Lees-Jones lives in Lower Peover, Cheshire and is Chairman of J.W. Lees & Co. (Brewers) Limited of Middleton Junction, Manchester.
He was educated at Rugby and Clare College Cambridge, where he graduated with a degree in Economics and Law.
During his National Service he served with the 42nd Field Regiment in Germany and he then spent 13 years in the Territorial Army with the Manchester Artillery retiring with the rank of Major in 1966, when he received the T.D.
He is a General Commissioner of Tax, Trustee of the Manchester Guardian Society and Deputy Lieutenant of Greater Manchester.
Richard has worked for the family brewing company for 50 years. He has been Chairman of the North West Brewers Association, Chairman of the Institute of Brewing North West and Master of The Worshipful Company of Brewers in 2001. Through the company's wine subsidiary, Willoughby's, he has been involved with the Commanderie de Bordeaux, the 1820 Club and been Chairman of the North West Wines & Spirit Association.
Richard is married to Diana (nee Nayler) in 1963 and they have three children, William born in 1964, Simon born in 1966 and Anna born in 1970 and seven grandchildren.
Richard was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant in 1998.
