Professor S A Moore JP DL MA (Econ) D.Soc.Sc.

Sam MooreProfessor S. A. Moore JP. was born in Stockport in 1939, and was educated at Stockport School and the Victoria University or Manchester. He had an academic career at the same University, becoming a Professor in the Department of Econometrics; he was also Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and Vice Chancellor of the University.

Sam was Chairman of The Central Manchester Hospitals NHS Trust from 1991-2001 and Stockport Primary Care NHS Trust from 2001-2002. He continues to serve as a magistrate and is presently the Chairman of the City of Manchester Bench. Over the years he has been involved in a number of other voluntary and charitable organisations.

At present Professor Moore lives in Hazel Grove, where he enjoys a spot of gardening, travel, and having time with his grandchildren.

Although not his given name, he is usually known as 'Sam' Moore.

Sam was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant in 2007.
