Allen Leitch-Whittaker RIP
We are deeply saddened to annouce the death of Allen Leitch-Whittaker. Allen passed away on Saturday 23rd April following complications after undergoing an operation for cancer.
Allen was a Royalist, through and through, and his wife, Catherine, agreed that Allen would have enjoyed the irony of leaving us on St George's Day.
Allen was born In Stockport in 1956 and was passionate about the development of the local Community and Voluntary sector in that borough.
Allen was Chief Executive of Beechwood Cancer Care Centre since the start of the millenium and his love of the people was well known and appreciated by staff, patients and volunteers. All were deeply shocked at the news of his death.
Allen was an active member of the Rotary Club of Stockport having been President in 2009/2010 and served as Vice Chairman of Governors of Woodley Primary School, having been Chairman, and had also been a Vice Chairman at Adswood Primary School. He was also a GMP Lay Custody Visitor for 9 years.
The date of his funeral has yet to be determnined but it will be held at St Mary's, Stockport and followed by a private burial. More details will emerge next week.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Catherine and the family and with all who knew and appreciated a man who was larger than life and loved by so many. He will be deeply missed.
