Each borough in Greater Manchester hold Citizenship Ceremonies. Administered and conducted by the Register Offices, a Deputy Lieutenant attends each ceremony and congratulates the attendees on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen and the Lord-Lieutenant.

At a recent Trafford Citizenship Ceremony, children from Year 6 of St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Sale attended, recited a Poem, presented each of the new Citizens with a souvenir book mark and heartedly joined in the singing of the National Anthem.

Their presence added greatly to the occasion and was welcomed by all present. The children are pictured with Paul Goddard LVO DL and The Mayor of Trafford, Councillor Judith Lloyd. Paul said, "The children really made the new citizens feel welcome. This was a great idea by Trafford Register Office and really adds to the sense of occasion"
