Duke of York
His Royal Highness, The Duke of York, visited The TechHUB in central Manchester where he enjoyed lecture on the concept of the TechHUB and the future developments here in the city (The HUB brings IT specialists together and offers facilities to develop their work without the usual problems of office space and significant overheads). HRH then toured the first floor and met a number of the people hearing of their particular areas of interest. He then went to the top floor where a number of designers were gathered. Each presented their product before HRH and the rest of the judging panel who decided which of them would be invited to Buckingham Palace.
HRH moved on to Crescent Road Primary School to meet the members of the Code Club. Prior to that HRH toured the school and met a number of pupils and staff and visited some of the classrooms. In the Code Club he observed many of the projects designed to teach coding to young children and asked the children many questions. He was interviewed by a reporter from BBC Newsround for a broadcast that day.
HRH’s final visit was to Broughton House, Salford where he is Patron. The house is the home to many former service personnel who receive long-term care medical. He toured the house and met a number of the residents who were engaged in playing Bingo as well as being able to view one of the new bedrooms! His Royal Highness was given an update by the CEO and members of the Board on the future developments of the house.
