Kathleen T Robinson DL

Kathleen was born in 1945; she is married to Stuart Robinson and has three adult sons, six grandchildren and one greatgrandson.

Kath was an elected member of Manchester City Council May 1979 and served for 25 years before deciding to step down in 2004. She had held several positions of responsibility amongst which she was one of two Deputy Leaders on the City Council for 12 years, jointly Chaired the Cheetham and Broughton SRB Initiative (Joint venture between Salford and Manchester City Councils), was the City Council's Representative on the North West Regional Assembly and Policy Committee and chaired the KPG for Image & Promotion. Kath co-wrote a paper for Labour Finance and Industry Group on trade in China and was the lead Member for Crime and Community and Safety; for Voluntary Sector; for Best Value; for International Links. She Chaired the Social Services Committee, Leisure Committee and Land & Property Committee and was elected Lord Mayor for 1986/87.

Within the controlling Labour Group of the City Council she has always had a prominent role to play and is a valued spokesperson for arts related issues. She has been a Director on Manchester International Airport Plc, Castlefield Management Company, Groundwork National, Governor several local schools, Museum of Science and Industry, MIDAS Board, (Manchester Inward Development Agency), North West Cultural Consortium, North West Arts Board and the NABMA (National Association of British Market Authorities) where she was National Prersident.

Kath is a founder member of South Manchester Mencap in 1974 and served on the Executive Committee for over 20 years as well as serving many other organisatons.  She is currently a member of the Library Theatre Trust, Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Charity, Feelgood Theatre, Manchester Girls Institute, TungSing Housing Association and the Manchester International Arts.

Kath now works as a consultant to a number of companies offering support & advice on local government, training & re-generation issues, also Chairs Yorkshire Bank F.S.C.

Kath became a Deputy Lieutenant in 2008
