Christian Wewer Esq. DL BA(Hons) BArch.RIBA,R.

Christian was born in Taulov, Denmark in 1948 and lived, briefly, in Trinidad before his family moved to the UK in 1955. He was educated at Epsom College and Manchester University School of Architecture. He qualified as an Architect in 1976 and became ARCUK Registered; he was elected Corporate Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects later that year.

During his working career Christian has been the Company Architect for Simonbuild, an Architect/Associate Partner for Warburton Evans Architects, Co-Founder and Senior Partner of Architects Group Practice and is currently Joint-Founder and Managing Director of AEW Architects and Designers Ltd.

Christian was appointed Honorary Danish Consul for Manchester and the North West in 1988 and his work in that area was recognised by Crown Prince Frederick of Denmark when he was awarded the Service Medal ‘Rider of Danebrog' in 1998. Queen Margrethe of Denmark awarded him ‘Rider of Danebrog' 1st Class in 2006.

In the community Christian has served as the Treasurer of the Manchester Society of Architects for two years from 1997 and became President from 199-2001. He has also served as President of the Manchester Consular Association and remains a Committee member to this day.

Christian lists amongst his interests Travel, Sailing, Squash, Cycling, Reading and the Theatre.

Christian was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant in 2004 and became the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester in 2009.
