Gerry Yeung OBE

Kui Man (Gerry) was born in Guangzhou and spent his childhood in Hong Kong and came to UK in his teens. He completed his secondary education in Manchester, followed by attendance at York University.

In 1977, after graduation, Gerry embarked on a career as a trainee accountant.  Soon afterwards his father requested that he join the family business, the Yang Sing Restaurant, at its inception. With no previous business and managerial experience, he worked hard to develop his own unique and individual style which contributed to the undoubted success of the Yang Sing which became one of the most famous restaurants in Manchester.

Gerry also runs two other catering operations in The Trafford Centre, known as Yang Sing Cathay and Yang Sing Xpression.

He has been involved in the business, cultural, education and charitable scenes in the city for many years.  At present, he is a member of the Board of Governors for The University of Manchester and Withington Girls School, a director of MIDAS, and the president of Disabled Living, one of the longest established charities in Manchester.

Gerry is interested in architecture and has renovated a number of Grade II listed properties.  He enjoys good wine and good food (suitable hobbies for a restaurateur!) as well as buying the occasional piece of antique furniture.

He is married to Yin Ling (Joanne) and they have two children.
