David has worked and been a volunteer in his local community for most of his adult life and has volunteered for a number of Charities in that time. David is current Chair of Manchester Pride and was previously the Chair of the LGBT Foundation for 10 years. He is the only person to have held both these positions and is a prominent champion of LGBT equality locally and nationally. David has thirty-five years of experience in both the Public and Non-Profit sectors, with the later 20 of these at a senior level.
He is currently a Director in the NHS and is a recognised expert on Governance and Organisation Improvement/Development.
In 2010, he was awarded an Honorary Degree by The University of Salford for his work on LGBT issues and named Charity Chair of the Year at The Third Sector National Awards in 2013. In 2016 he was awarded an Honorary ‘Hero’ Award at the LGBT Foundation awards ceremony for his contribution to the LGBT Community. He lives in his beloved Salford with his husband Darren.
David was made a Deputy Lieutenant in 2016
