Emily is a retired Police Officer, having served 31 years within Greater Manchester Police. She retired as the District Commander of Wigan. During her time in Policing she has been instrumental in supporting vulnerable communities and also working to combat organised crime. In 2019 she was awarded a ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award by British Association of Policing in Award. She was also awarded a ‘Leadership Award’ by the International Association of Women in Policing and went to Alaska to receive it. In November 2023 she was awarded the prestigious ‘Kings Police Medal’, she travelled to London with her family to receive the medal from His Majesty The King’. She said ‘I am so humbled to have been nominated, it was such an amazing experience and my family being with me made so special’.
Emily, for the last 7 years has been the safeguarding governor for her local school. She is also a Trustee of Wigan Athletic Community Trust, supporting young people within the community.
In her spare time, she loves gardening and spending time outdoors. She plays guitar and likes attending rock concerts. Her main hobby is spending time with her family, movie and pizza nights and going for days out.
She was commissioned as a Deputy Lieutenant in 2024.
