Christine has twenty years experience of voluntary public service to higher education having served on the Council and Court of the University of Salford and the Court and General Assembly of the University of Manchester.
Christine was a member of the University of Salford Court and a Member of the University of Salford Council and served on the Audit Committee and the Strategic Policy and Resources Committee from 1992 until 1998. She has been a Member of the Governing Body of Altrincham Girls’ Grammar School; a Member of the Further Education Funding Council Quality Assessment Committee; Vice Chairman of the Girls’ Schools Association (GSA) Professional Development Committee; Joint Chairman of the HMC/GSA Professional development committee; a member of the Girls’ School Association Council with responsibility for the training of new head mistresses; the Girls’ School Association representative on the Independent School Council Teacher Induction Panel; a Member of the University of Manchester Court and formerly Head Mistress of Manchester High School for Girls.
Currently Christine is a Non Executive Director of the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery, an NHS Foundation Trust in Liverpool, a post to which she was appointed following her retirement as Head Mistress of Manchester High School for Girls in 2008. She continues her voluntary service as a Justice of the Peace: a governor of the University of Manchester serving on the Audit Committee and the Awards and Honours Committee; a trustee of the Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention Charity; trustee of the Greater Manchester High Sheriff Trust and trustee of the Henshaw Society for the Blind.
She was made a Deputy Lieutenant in 2007 and HIgh Sheriff of Greater Manchester 2011.
Christine lists amongst her interests Tennis, Literature and the theatre, Travel, Membership of the Wine Society, she is a supporter of the Army Benevolent Fund and Member of the Manchester Literary and Philosophical Society and member of the Commanderie de Bordeaux.
