Nick Massey joined the Community Foundation for Greater Manchester in 1998 – since then the organisation has grown from a small grant making trust with two employees, making under £40,000 awards each year into the largest independent grant-maker in Greater Manchester. The Foundation now employs 20 people, has a volunteer workforce of more than 300 and manages more than 40 funds within its portfolio. Since 2000 the Community Foundation has attracted more than £30 million of investment and made over 10,000 grants to grass root community projects and social entrepreneurs across Greater Manchester.
Prior to CFGM, Nick ran his own Marketing and Business Consultancy, and was Head of Corporate Marketing at the Co-operative Bank plc. Where he won a Marketing SWOT Award for the launch of Business Direct the UK’s first telephone banking service for businesses.
He lives in Urmston, is married to Debbie with 2 daughters, Kate and Phoebe and still dreams of playing for Manchester United and reforming Sebastian Bed, the greatest unsigned band of 1978!
