Vicken is an active member of Manchester’s Armenian Community. He became Chair of the Trust which looks after the Holy Trinity Armenian Church (on Upper Brook Street) in January 2023, having been a Trustee since 2008. Vicken also chaired the Committee which organised a number of events to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the consecration of the Church. He also wrote a book about the history of Manchester’s Armenian Community and its Church.
Before qualifying as a Solicitor in 1995, Vicken studied French at University and lived in Rouen for a year as part of the course. He still speaks fluent French as well as Armenian and is teaching himself Spanish.
In addition, he is a Trustee of the UK branch of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, an international humanitarian charity and a mentor for the Albert Kennedy Trust. Vicken began volunteering for Manchester Pride in 2005 before being invited to become a Trustee in 2008. He was elected Chair in 2010, a role he held until he retired from the Board in 2016. He continues to volunteer for the Charity.
Away from his voluntary work, Vicken has been practicing yoga for several years which he loves. He is also passionate about music. After almost 30 years practicing as a solicitor, Vicken is currently a part-time carer for his Mother as well as working as a barista at a local coffee shop. Vicken lives in Handforth with his husband Nick.
