New Year Honours for people assoicated with the Lieutenancy and around the county
Edina UK, Metalube and HVPD win the award for Innovation. The phtogrpah shows the Lord-Lieutenant presented the Queen's Award in the catagory of Innovation to Mr Tony Fenton and Mr Philip Pollock, Joint Managing Directors of Edina UK in July. Edina design and operate anaerobic digesters of organic waste and employ over 50 people. Their Headquarters are based in Stockport.
The Lieutenancy marked the outbreak of the First World War by holding a service at Manchester Cathedral on Sunday the 3rd August. Over 1000 people attended the event that saw active members of the Armed Forces join with cadets, veterans and members of the public to remember the thousands of men who travelled from this county to take part in the largest conflict of our country's history.
Robina Shah, one of the Deputy Lieutenants of Greater Manchester has been reconginsed for her work with the NHS. Robina, Manchester Medical School’s NHS Constitution Adviser and Lead for Compassionate care has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP).
