Impact of the Coronavirus Pandemic on the Greater Manchester Lieutenancy

The Lord-Lieutenant is at an increased risk of severe illness from Coronavirus and has decided to heed the Government advice and put stringent social distancing measures in place for the next few months or until the advice changes. He is now working from home and predominantly using email and telephone. We will be contacting meeting and event coordinators for anything The Lord-Lieutenant has been invited to and cannot now attend. New invitations will be considered on case by case basis and if it is appropriate and safe the Vice Lord-Lieutenant or a Deputy Lieutenant will attend and represent him. The Lieutenancy Office Staff are also putting measures in place to enable them to work from home in the very near future.

Contacting us during the Pandemic

The most efficient way to make contact is by email. Telephone messages can be left on the voicemail system and these will be responded to during office hours. Whilst post will still be received at the post room at The Parkway Buildings, collection and response will be slower than usual as it will be collected and dealt with on a weekly rather than daily basis. If letters can be sent electronically then that is favourable even if protocol traditionally dictates otherwise.

Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund

We will be accepting grant applications as usual. Please send them by email rather than post wherever possible.
