Commodore Phillip Waterhouse DL RN

Commodore Phil Waterhouse joined the Royal Navy in 1982 as a Junior Sailor and was commissioned as an officer in 1988. His career spanned key logistics and command roles at sea and ashore, including operational tours on Frigates, Destroyers, and Amphibious ships, and command of the Defence Maritime Logistics School. He also served as Deputy Commanding Officer/Chief Operating Officer of Devonport Naval Base.

Promoted to Commodore in 2017, he became Naval Regional Commander for Northern England and the Isle of Man, and Commander Royal Navy Cadet Forces; he also served as Aide de Camp to the Sovereign.

He retired from the RN in 2023 and now serves as Group Corporate Affairs Director for APCL, a global maritime services company.

He holds several prestigious roles: Fellow of the Institute of Logistics and Transport, Chair of Mersey Maritime, Chair of Understeam, Patron of Alexandra House, President of Hull4Heroes, Trustee of Broughton House Veterans Care Village and Younger Brother of Hull Trinity House. He holds an MA from KCL and is an Honorary Fellow of Liverpool John Moores University.

He is passionate about supporting veterans and the Armed Forces Covenant. Personally, he enjoys rugby league and cricket, is Life President of Royal Navy Rugby League Association, a Wigan Warriors season ticket holder, and a qualified cricket umpire. He lives in North West Manchester with his wife, Colleen.
